EL-FI Power Monitor
MSF Softstarters
Inverters and Drives

Uses the Motor as a Sensor To Measure Loads to 2% Accuracy
Use an EL-FI load monitor as a
proactive measure to protect your machines and processes from serious
breakdowns. Abnormal over- and underload is accurately and reliably detected.
You can decrease expensive production downtime, increase machine/pump operation
time and avoid undesired repair costs.
How? An alarm for overload or underload is activated at set alarm levels
and stops the machine/process before serious damage is done.
Possible Applications:
 | Pumps - Dry running, cavitation, closed valves, flow variations and locked
pump wheels.
 | Mixers - Shaft oscillation, missing or damaged blades and changes in
material viscosity.
 | Conveyors - Jamming, unnecessary idling and broken chains, axles or belts.
and many more...
Products:
M10 - Dry Running Protection for Pumps/The Electronic Shear-Pin
M20 - Advanced shaft power monitor with four alarm levels and analogue
output
DCM - Supervises and controls 1 or 2 submersible pumps
FM - Fan monitor
PM - Pump monitor
CTM - Current transformer
Easy to use
All EL-FI load monitors are maintenance-free and easy to install!
They are suitable for both new installation and for upgrading machines and
pumps.
Auto Set
The Emotron EL-FI load monitors are equipped with the patented Emotron Auto
Set function. By pressing the Auto Set key during normal load, the alarm
levels are calculated and automatically set.

The MSF Softstarter provides smooth
starts and protection of machines and processes during operations. The
Softstarter also provides linear stops or active braking. It ranges from
17-1650 Ampere and 200-690 Volt.
Advantages
 | Torque starts
 | Built-in EL-FI load monitor
 | Information and communication
 | Pump control
 | Advanced braking techniques
Torque Starts
A soft start is enabled by a linear speed ramp. Torque ramping uses in
average 20% less energy. This results in smaller fuses and lower energy
costs. The torque control also eliminates the typical jolts that
conventional starters experience.
Built-in EL-FI Load Monitor
The built-in shaft power monitor protects your machines and processes from
over- and underload. You can hereby avoid expensive break downs and
production down time. The monitor typically prevents jammed conveyors, dry
running pumps, worn-out tools etc. The Load Monitor has the same functions
as the Emotron EL-FI M20 Shaft Power Monitor.
Information and Communication
During operations you can view the status of operations. The display show
values for current, voltage, power, energy consumption, power factor,
torque, elapsed time and motor thermal capacity.
The MSF Soft Starter can communicate either thru the standard display or
thru terminals. Serial interface (RS-232/-485), field buses (Profibus,
DeviceNet, Interbus, FIPIO) and external display are optional.
Pump Control
The built-in pump control is based on square torque ramps. This gives a
linear speed change at start and stop without any external devices. It
prevents water hammering and increase the life time of pipes and valves.
Simpler valves and smaller pipes are other positive effects.
Advanced Braking Techniques
The MSF Softstarter brakes catches all types of load. It also
detects when the motor is standing still, thereby allowing fast restarting
and enhance safety.
 | Dynamic DC brake without contactor for medium loads.
 | Controlled sensorless soft brake with reversing contactor for heavy loads.
